Theatre 68- Pleasant Surprise in Los Angeles

While planning a recent trip to Los Angeles, I read about a play entitled The Busy World is Hushed, featuring some stars from General Hospital.  The play would only be running for a couple of weeks and one of those weeks happened to coincide with our trip.  The play featured Carolyn Hennesy, Jason Thompson, and Nathan Parsons from General Hospital.  Being the huge Jason Thompson fan, it took me all of 5 seconds to get online and purchase tickets. I did not even take the time to read what the play was about, but I was in for a pleasant surprise.

After spending over an hour on the 101 freeway (gotta love LA) we finally arrived.  It is a very intimate venue with only 99 seats and we were lucky enough to sit right in the second row.  A few minutes after sitting down, Dominic Zamprogna (plays Dante Falconeri on GH) came in with his wife and sat right behind us. I was in General Hospital fan heaven.

The lights dimmed and the play began.  Hannah is an Episcopal minister (Carolyn Hennesy) who hires Brandt (Jason Thompson) to assist her with a book she is writing.  Thomas (Nathan Parsons) is her estranged son, who is gay, and ends up developing a relationship with Brandt. The actors gave such amazing and moving performances. The best part about this play, in my opinion, is that it opened your eyes to a different perspective, a different way of thinking.

Although, I grew up in Los Angeles, I had never heard of theatre 68 before.  It is located on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood and if you blink you may just drive right past it.  So next time you happen to be in Los Angeles and want to catch a play, I strongly recommend looking at what 68 cent theatre company has to offer.
